Description of my issue:

Hello Gregor,

From the two log files I can see a very well known pattern emerging: your server has a CRON timeout limit set to 3 minutes. Anything trying to run more than that is killed off. Unfortunately this is not enough time to complete a backup. Please ask your host to increase the CRON timeout to ~30 minutes. I believe that this will be more than enough to complete a backup.

Slightly off topic but VERY important: You are running outdated versions of Joomla! and Akeeba Backup. Please upgrade to Joomla! 2.5.14 and Akeeba Backup 3.8.1 as soon as possible. YOur current Joomla! version contains a vulnerability that allows anyone to become a Super User without your knowledge. The nature of the attack is such that security software (like Admin Tools and competitive products) can't handle it.

Firstly I would like to thank you for your reply. Unfortunately, my provider has not accepted the increase of time limit for cron operation. Accordingly I have the following question: Is it possible in the other way to cause backup in the schedule together with coping backup file remotly to FTP server?
Please, give me some hint on it.
I must add that in akeeba-altaback.php option backup file has been created but it has not been sent to remote server FTP.
I am able to activate these scripts on the other server as cron tasks but can we control this process from the other server? I would appreciate your reply.

You can create a scheduled job without using your host's CRON jobs. In this case you have to follow the WebCron.org setup instructions (at the bottom of the Scheduling Information page of the component).

Please note that the WebCron.org setup uses the legacy front-end backup method. As such there are time restrictions to your backup. You will need to set the Part size for split archives to something between 5 and 20Mb for the backups to succeed.
