Hi I have searched to make sure this has not been asked prior. I am taking over a site that has no backup at all...it is a rather large client for me so I want no issues as would expect. They built the site - Joomla 2.5.9 - the host is Media Temple.

It is built with with staging server and LIVE server...they are doing this using Git. So I have to install Akeeba backup on the staging server then "push" it to the LIVE server....will this work? I would love to back it up and then bring this to a typical install and lose the staging server - but that will be later.... so can I back this type of site up?

Thanks!!

Hello Keith,

these two servers are sharing the same db?
If so, I think you can do that, but I've never done that before.

Actually I believe it is using two separate databases - being it is Git - The question is if I install Akeeba Backup into the staging server - then push it to the LIVE server - can I then backup the LIVE server? OR, will it then backup the LIVE server?

If they have different databases, it will simply not work.
Site A will have Akeeba Backups files and entries inside the database, then you push to site B.
You'll get the files, but not db info, so it won't work.
