Description of my issue:
This is not a problem, but a solution. For people having trouble with cron jobs on hostgator. I've had to use a different path to php when on a shared 5.2 php server upgraded to 5.3 by putting code into the .htaccess file.
If you replace ./usr/bin/php or its variation with /opt/php53/bin/php the cron works.
Leave the home/yoursite/public_html.... the same.
