Joomla! version: (3.1)
PHP version: (5.3.10)
MySQL version: (5.1.70-cll)
Host: (eukhost)
Akeeba Backup version: (3.7.10 (2013-06-29))

EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: Please attach a ZIP file containing your Akeeba Backup log file in order for us to help you with any backup or restoration issue. If the file is over 2Mb, please upload it on your server and post a link to it.

Description of my issue:

Restore points cannot be taken in the following cases:

1. The System - System Restore Points plugin is disabled. This is straightforward, you can check for it.

2. You are using the integrated Joomla! extensions update feature or you are using a third party updater other than Akeeba Live Update. These are Joomla! limitations. Joomla! lacks the necessary hooks to let us intercept updates that are not initiated from the main page of com_install (the Joomla! extensions manager component) itself. Without rewriting Joomla!'s own code we can't do anything to fix this.

3. You are trying to upgrade a package, file or library extension; these types cannot be supported by Akeeba Live Update This is a limitation by definition. Package, file and library extensions do not have to follow any convention about the location of the files being written or the database tables used. As a result it is impossible for Akeeba Backup to guess what needs to be backed up in the course of a System Restore Point backup.

You can't have an SRP backup in a new install. The SRP is backing up the existing version of the extension. If the extension is broken you can roll back to the previous version. If it's a new install there is nothing to back up or roll back to. How can we back up the void?

Oh I have completely misunderstood. I am sure when I used Akeeba a few years ago any install triggered an akeeba backup 'restore point' so that you could easily pull back Joomla to the state prior to the install of a rougue module etc.

My apologies for my misunderstanding.

This feature has not changed at all since it was first introduced. You are confusing it with Admin Tools. When you are doing a full Joomla! update it takes a full site backup using Akeeba Backup. That's not part of the SRP feature of Akeeba Backup, it's just a regular backup.

Okay thank you for your support. I have obviously remembered incorrectly - although this would be a cool feature!

Thank you for creating such a fantastic component.
