Description of my issue:
I keep having the same issue for the last 2-3 months. After I make a backup, and thry to restore files locally (using your extraction program) I'm missing most of the folders, but no error message is generated. I noticed that when dealing with small sites (below 2Gb) it all works fine but on a large sites something gets messed up.
The backup is set to divide site contents and create smaller jpa files, but even with file of about 1Gb in size I get the same problems. I have about 16 backups and none of them allows me to restore the site. This doesn't happen only with one site but with other big sites as well.

I paid extra to get a subscription and get this problem resolved but so far I'm dealing with the same issue.

Any ideas ?
Arthur Klisiewicz

PS>
I attached a screen shoo showin what's left after running the extraction

If you are not getting any error messages when extracting then everything inside the backup archive is extracted. In this case you have to check your settings and your logs to see if you're excluding any directory you would actually need to include.

Please also know that you have given me no log file and not even the version number of Akeeba Backup you are using. And not any error message. You are essentially asking me to help you by guessing. I can't do that.

I cannot give you an error message, simply because there is no Error. I double and triple checked if necessary folders are included in a backup. Yes they are. When looking at size the total backup sizes is about 6 or more Gb. The means I have 3-4 files little over 2Gb each. Since the size is so big I would assume that the backup has everything needed (although it could be damaged for some reason).
Once again neither running Backup or Restore gives any Error, but when I open restored folders there are folders and files missing. In some cases the is about 70% or sometimes only %30 missing files and folders.

The ExtractWizard I use is version 3.3

The Akeba Backup I run at the moment is 3.7.4 (but I believe the backup sets I need to restore used a little older version, probably 3.7.0 or alike). Even if I do the backup today with the current version of Backup/Restore I still get into same problem.
I attached the LOG file as well, hopefully this will help you locate the problem

PS>
please kke in mind (as I have run some testing) that when the backup file is relatively small everything works fin, so this only happens if I have several backup files around 2Gb each...

I can upload a backup set to a DropBox so you can download it and test it if you like...

Thanks - Arthur

eXtract Wizard doesn't have a size limitation. The internal limit is 2 ^ 63 - 1 byte, or around 8 exabytes. There is, however, a PHP limit. Most versions of PHP will start having problems generating files over 2147483647 bytes (2Gb minus one byte) as PHP is internally using 32-bit signed integers to express file pointers. This means that you need to set the Part Size for Split Archives to the 2000Mb option. This will create a split archive with each archive part much shorter than 2Gb, making sure that this integer precision issue doesn't affect the backup archive. If, however, you set the part size to 0 and you end with a single file archive over 2147483647 then yes, the archive WILL be broken due to PHP resorting to using a float after that mark to express the file pointer. Floats do not have the necessary precision, resulting in a corrupt archive.

The only way PHP can use a 64-bit signed integer (in the same way eXtract does), allowing the use of ginormous single file archives is using the 64-bit PHP binary on a 64-bit Linux machine, running under a 64-bit server environment and having all necessary 64-bit libraries available. If you are using any other operating system or any other mix of servers / libraries you will end up with a PHP that's internally using a 32-bit signed integer with the problems I described above.

Yes, I have seen this info already in the past. My Backup parts are exactly 2.147.352.576 bytes.
It seems that the size is within the limit (you have mentioned) but I still have problem extracting and the folders are missing. When I mentioned the size of the backup I was referring to the total size not the size of the part. another words is there are 3 parts about 2Gb each then there is a problem.

Can you please try with smaller part size, e.g. 2000Mb (which is less than 2Gb)? Also, when extracting the file, please make sure that you have enough disk space for both the archive and its extracted files. Finally do note that Akeeba Backup, Kickstart and eXtract have been tested with real world backups up to 61Gb in size.
