Mandatory information about my setup:

Have I read the documentation before posting (which pages?)? Yes
Joomla! version: 2.5.10
PHP version: 5.3.23
MySQL version: (unknown)
Host: one.com
Akeeba Backup version: (unknown)

EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: Please attach a ZIP file containing your Akeeba Backup log file in order for us to help you with any backup or restoration issue. If the file is over 2Mb, please upload it on your server and post a link to it.

Description of my issue:

I'm now unable to install any version of Akeeba Backup on my site lakkproffen.no (version 3.7.4 was installed, but the error mentioned below occured when trying to upgrade to 3.7.6). Akeeba was suddenly not visible in the component menu, and I tried to reinstall. After this, I get this error when trying to install (and yes, I'm logged in as super user):

JInstaller: :Installer: File does not exist /customers/......./tmp/akeeba/backend/fof.xml

I have tried to manually install through the tmp folder, also checked phpmyadmin for any "leftovers" from previous installed version...

I have installed and upgraded AB on numerous sites during the last years, this is the first time I have any kind of problem, and I can't seem to find a solution on my own.

Please advice (credentials for super admin can be arranged if neccessary).

Please try downloading the package again. For a very short time (around 3 hours) our downloads CDN was serving the wrong installation package archive. If you redownload and install the proper package for 3.7.6 it will work.

Important bit: Due to a bug in Joomla!'s JInstaller class (the extensions installation API, necessarily used by all Joomla! extensions), if an installation fails the menu item disappears. I have reported this bug a long time ago but no action was taken. You can try installing our component package twice on your site, without uninstalling in between, to fix the missing menu item. Otherwise you will have to follow the "Joomla1 1.6/1.7/2.5 installation problems" instructions in our installation troubleshooting page.

You're welcome and thank you for the feedback! The "double installation to fix missing menus" is a brand new thing I added last week and you were the first user to test it on a real situation (and not one simulated on purpose by yours truly solely for testing reasons).
