EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: Please attach a ZIP file containing your Akeeba Backup log file in order for us to help you with any backup or restoration issue. If the file is over 2Mb, please upload it on your server and post a link to it.

Description of my issue:

Not so much of an issue. Occasionally I'll have a backup that failed to upload to Amazon S3 for whatever reason. I thought I'd be nice to have an option to transfer the file to S3 from Manage Backsups.

It's already implemented. This is what the "Transfer file to Amazon S3" link in the far right column of those backup entries does.

I recall seeing that option with Box.net. But I don't have that option with Amazon S3. I've attached screenshot of my Manage Backups screen. I don't see a "Transfer to Amazon S3". Perhaps I've misconfigured something?

In order for that link to appear, a number of prerequisites must be met:

  • The backup must have an OK status, meaning that it's successfully taken and the backup archive is found on your site's server
  • The profile must be using a post-processing option (e.g. Amazon S3) and this option must be set before taking the backup you want to transfer.

My guess is that the profile in question (#1 - Default backup profile) somehow isn't set up to use Amazon S3 for transfers. Can you please check that?

I checked both of my backup profiles and they are configured to use Amazon S3. I noticed that the backup in the first screenshot is now listed as obsolete and was transfered to my S3 bucket.

I've included my log file.

"Obsolete" means that the backup archive is no longer present on your server, but there is no log entry of it being transferred to remote storage (e.g. Amazon S3).. In this case the "Transfer to S3" link wouldn't make sense as there is nothing to transfer, that's why it's not shown to you.

I unstand that. However, the circumstances are weird. I ran the backup first thing this morning, and it failed durring the post processing. Something about an Ajax error & internal server error... So I screen shot the instance of where the backup was made, but no Transfer to Amazon link was present. After you suggested I check my setting I went back and noticed that the same backup was now transfered to Amazon S3 (I didn't do it) but was now listed as Obsolete.

OK, this does make sense for me. What happened is that even though PHP was still running and uploading your archive to S3, Apache (the web server) returned a reply which indicated that the backup process had timed out. Please use a smaller part size for split archives and you will not have this kind of issues again.

Ahh, I understand now. Since the archive is listed as obsolete does that mean that the archive will not be considered in the maximum backup age quotas?

That's correct. Only backups of the OK or Remote status will be taken into account for quotas.
