Description of my issue:

 

Hi Nicholas

 

I have a question about upgrading MySQL on the site. We currently run 5.1.66-cll but an employee who writes queries wants us to run the latest version. He suggests version 5.5.30.

 

My questions are:

 

1: Can I beckup with Akeeba, make the MySQL upgrade, and then restore from that backup?

2: If not, how do you recommend we would do this not to break Akeeba Backup or run into other problems that would make it impossible to restore the site?

Akeeba Backup is developed on MySQL 5.5. No need to worry :) In fact, we've successfully tested it with MySQL 5.0, 5.1, 5.5 and 5.6. Akeeba Backup 3.7.x supports all current MySQL 5.x versions.
