Description of my issue:

After the upgrade to 3.7.3. Akeeba backup won't backup my site, saying there is an AJAX problem. I followed the steps on the Troubleshooters page en I tried to set de configuration to iFrames, but without result.

What can I do to make Akeeba backup again?

Please try the following settings in the configuration page:

  • Minimum execution time: 1 second
  • Maximum execution time: 7 seconds
  • Runtime bias: 50%

If the backup fails again, please ZIP and attach the new log file.

We'll have to use more conservative settings which will make the backup much slower:

  • Minimum execution time: 5 second
  • Maximum execution time: 3 seconds (yes, maximum is less than minimum, it's not a typo)
  • Runtime bias: 50%

Strange is also that on the controlpanel the status is Buzzy, after the backup and error message.

There are two possibilities here. You are either running out of disk space or your server really hates you. I'll assume it's the second case and try to work around it with super conservative settings:

  • Minimum execution time: 3 seconds
  • Maximum execution time: 1 second
  • Runtime bias: 50%

If that still doesn't work, check your free disk space and disk quota. As a rule of thumb, you should have 30-50% of free disk space and quota before taking a backup.
