Joomla! version: 2.5.9
PHP version: 5.3.3
MySQL version: 5.1
Host: (optional, but it helps us help you)
Akeeba Backup version: 3.7.2

EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: Please attach a ZIP file containing your Akeeba Backup log file in order for us to help you with any backup or restoration issue. If the file is over 2Mb, please upload it on your server and post a link to it.

Description of my issue:

Hi there;)

I ran into a problem with my remote command-line backup to dropbox. In my Akeeba-log it says:

[130314 00:00:45] Failed to process file /var/www/vhosts/XXX-XXX.de/httpdocs/administrator/components/com_akeeba/backup/site-www.XXX-XXX.XXX-20130314-000001.jpa [130314 00:00:45] Error received from the post-processing engine: [130314 00:00:45] File exceeds 150MB upload limit \n File exceeds 150MB upload limit \n File exceeds 150MB upload limit

[130314 00:00:50] PHP WARNING on line 124 in file /var/www/vhosts/XXX-XXX.XXX/httpdocs/administrator/components/com_akeeba/akeeba/drivers/mysql.php: [130314 00:00:50] mysql_close() expects parameter 1 to be resource, boolean given

Questions:
Is there a parameter that I can alter in Akeeba-Back where I can change the upload-limit or is it given by dropbox? Because on all our other site the remote backup is working well but the backup size is of course less.

What would be the best setting for getting it over to dropbox in one file?

Fine tunning Parameters(result of the auto-wizzard):

Minimum execution time: 2 sec

Maximum execution time: 30 sec

Execution time bias: 75.00

Thank you for your help.

The limit is imposed by Dropbox themselves. It's a limitation of their client API. They do not allow third party applications using their API to connect to Dropbox to upload files with sizes over 150Mb. You will have to do a workaround, that is splitting the backup of your site to smaller chunks. In order to do so you will have to go to Akeeba Backup's Configuration page and set the Part size for Split Archives to 150Mb or less. Most likely you will need less to avoid PHP timeouts if you're doing a back-end backup. For more information please consult our documentation on storing your backup archives on the cloud. You will need to read at least two sections (don't worry, they're quite short):

  1. Basic configuration
  2. Using Dropbox

I would recommend watching our video tutorial on Dropbox integration as well.

Hi Nicholas,

thank you for your quick response. I just splitted the files for that website in particular to 50MB files. That is working as expected now.

Regards and have nice weekend.
