Since you said it's server disk space issue, I wonder why when backup to S3 disabled, everyting works fine?

In ticket 15129 your backup stopped LONG BEFORE the backup could reach the finalisation domain which is where Akeeba Backup looks –for the first time– if there is a data processing engine selected and transfer the backup. On that ticket you had a problem with the backup. If you remember correctly, when you removed older backups you WERE able to produce a backup of your site simply because there was enough space to produce the backup.

S3 comes AT THE VERY END of the backup. After the backup is taken, Akeeba Backup enters the finalisation domain. One of the steps done there is evaluating your data processing engine options, e.g. transfer to S3 or do nothing. That's AFTER THE BACKUP IS TAKEN. You had a problem taking the backup.

Let me give a car analogy which you might understand better. Your car breaks down in the freeway (incidentally you have the windows rolled down). I told you that the car was overweight and that would cause the suspension to break down, causing the car to stop. You intended to roll the windows up once you had finished the trip, but the car breaking down in the freeway meant that you never got the chance to do so. You lightened the car and you also removed the windows altogether. You were able to drive through the freeway. Now you are asking me why removing the windows allowed you to drive through the freeway. It didn't. At all. It was lightening the car which allowed you to drive through the freeway. And, yes, you could roll the windows up had you not removed them; it would have made no difference to your trip since you've already driven all the way home.
