Description of my issue:

I have a subscription to Akeeba Backup that expires in June and another to Admin Tools that expires in October.Β  Now with the release of the AkeebaSubs Pro, I'd like to upgrade everything to the Deluxe package and just manage a single subscription.

Is there any way to prorate the subscriptions that I've already purchased if I upgrade to the Deluxe package?

Β

I'd be very appreciative.

It's done automatically. When you try to buy a Deluxe subscription it will give you an auto discount based on your existing subscriptions and how long you've been a subscriber. It's one of the new features in Akeeba Subscriptions Professional called "flexible discount". I am always "dogfooding", i.e. I use the new features on my own site before anyone else does on his/her site :)

That's pretty neat.

Β

I have a presales question about the Akeeba Subs Pro product too:

Β

When a customer is already subscribed to a particular level, do the upgrade options appear as 'upgrade options' on the screen the displays the available levels, or does the user discover that as they go through the subscription process.

As you can already see on our site, they are not presented in any way on screen. The actual discount is calculated on the subscription page. This is by design. If you give it a coupon and it has calculated an automatic discount it will always pick the biggest of the two, not combine both. It can't know if you intend to use a coupon code beforehand.

Understood.Β  Final question:

Β

When a user goes to renew a subscription, are the variousl upgrade options presented?

No. AS doesn't care if it's a new subscription, a renewal or an upgrade. All it knows is that user X subscribes to level Y and a discount rules/tax rules/coupon code set Z is used. The rest is our (humans) intepretation.

For example, if user subscribes for a first time to the site or to an "unrelated" level we call it "subscription". AS calls it "susbcription" too.

If a user is already subscribed and resubscribes to the same level we call it "renewal". AS calls it "subscription" (probably with some upgrade rules applied).

If a user is already subscribed to level A and he subscribes to level B which we can parse as being an upgrade to level A we call it an "upgrade". AS calls its "subscription".

Understood.

Any changes to the database tables in AS3.0? Β I need to do some planning.

Yes, plenty! All these features require a lot of changes.

If you are interested, please take a look in administrator/components/com_akeebasubs/sql/update/mysql and look for all files whose names start with 2.6.0 or 3.0.0. They contain the upgrade SQL files with the changes.

I'm going to be one of your first Deluxe customers.

Β

Straight upgrade for Akeeba Subs Pro or uninstall 2.5 first?

Straight upgrade. Actually, update Akeeba Subscriptions first and remember that you need to install the Pro package twice in a row, without uninstalling in-between (yes, it's a Joomla! issue we're working around).

I just tried to subscribe to the Deluxe package and got a blank screen from the callback from Paymill here:

https://www.akeebabackup.com/index.php?option=com_akeebasubs&view=callback&paymentmethod=paymill&sid=19067

Do you know if my card has been charged?
