Description of my issue:

Hello,

i am using joomla 1.5 and last version of akeeba backup. Until some hours ago the backups i was running via joomla component or via cron jobs were created with 644 permission, as it should be on joomla, but now i see that the last 3 backups i ran were created with 755 permissions, i mean the archives .jpa have 755 permissions instead of 644, and you can see it clearly in filezilla because there is a permission column that make this very evident..

anyone has an ideia of the reason why this is happening?

thanks

nicholas

Akeeba Backup does not attempt to set or modify the permissions of the backup archives. These permissions are set by PHP itself when a new file is opened for writing. I am guessing that you have a Plesk-powered site, known for its strange defaults. Please contact your host and ask them to change the permissions of new files created by PHP to 0644.

In any case the diffence between 0755 and 0644 for backup archives is. ot that big of a deal. The only difference between the two permissions is the execute bit which is anyway ignored as the backup archives do neither start with a "shabang" (#!), nor are they a MIME type that the OS knows belongs to binary executables.
