Mandatory information about my setup:

Have I read the related troubleshooter articles above before posting (which pages?)? Have been through all the steps in "Akeeba Backup problems, can't run or start a backup and related interface issues".
Have I searched the tickets before posting? Yes (googled akeebabackup.com)
Have I read the documentation before posting (which pages?)? Yes, Quickstart Guide all pages
Joomla! version: 2.5.8
PHP version: 5.3.14
MySQL version: 5.1.50
Host: my laptop Win XP Pro SP3, Zend CE v5.6.0, Apache 2.2
Akeeba Backup version: 3.6.10 Pro

Description of my issue:

Have installed Akeeba Backup Pro in the above environment. Get jQuery error when try to view control panel. Attachment contains screen dump and php error log.

I have installed AB Pro at least a dozen times in both XAMPP and Zend CE brand new test environments. This error screen comes up most times, the installation has worked a couple of couple of times. The installation recorded in the attachment appeared to work, but when restarted the following day the jQuery error occured at once.

Am happy to follow any suggestions for further investigation as my site is under development and this can continue on another Joomla! installation without AB Pro in the meantime.

Thanks,

Michael

Actually, this is not a jQuery error. It's a PHP fatal error which doesn't allow the rest of the component to load correctly. The error log doesn't shed any light. Please do the following:

  • In your site's Global Configuration ser Error Reporting to Development and Debug Site to Yes.
  • Visit Akeeba Backup's page again
  • At the bottom of the page you should see an error message. Please copy it here.

Hi Nicholas,

The control panel appeared. The previous error message or similar is at the top. The debug console at the bottom is empty. The exclusion icons show as disabled. Screen dump attached. TZ+13, I may not be online much longer :-0

OK, we solved the real issue (the fatal error which prevented the site from loading). Now, that warning over there is a cosmetic issue only, most likely caused by a third party plugin. It's easy to get rid of:

  • Go to GLobal Configuration
  • Set Debug Site to No
  • Set Error Reporting to None

I live in GMT+2. Most likely you'll see this early in your morning which will be sometime between 8 pm to 11 pm over here. I will keep an eye on my email for your reply.

Thanks Nicholas, that fixed the issue. Regarding 3rd party plugin, it might help to know that this was a brand new installation of Joomla! 2.5.8 with sample data. I added nothing except AB Pro+a couple of database exclusion filters. I don't really understand why toggling the status on those two flags fixed the issue but, hey, it worked :-) Thanks again, Michael
