feature request 1+2:

just show up on backend when an update for Askeeba software is available.

i have sometimes probs to install the update on the same server with different webpages and same pref.

may you could let me direktly update via joomla updater(1)? when it shows new askeeba update avail. on joomla updater(2).

Joomla! update:

  • does not understand the difference between alpha, beta, rc and stable releases. It will propose you to update to unstable releases and you can't do nothign about it.
  • does not support commercial software which needs to use subscriber authentication parameters in the download URLs. This makes it impossible to be used for our commercial software unless we use a per-subscriber update URL. This would require us to increase our subscription prices by 30-50% to cover the expenses.
  • does not work well on shared hosts with limited memory, low CPU usage limits, bad performance or small PHP timeouts
  • does not work on hosts where allow_url_fopen is disabled
  • does not allow easy updates for multiple sites

These are all issues we have fixed in our Live Update. It will even email you when a new version of Akeeba Backup or Admin Tools is available and allow you to upgrade with a single click. We're not going back to using Joomla! extensions updater until the darn thing grows some balls.
