Joomla! version: (3.0)
PHP version: (5.2)
MySQL version: (5.0)
Host: (1&1.com)
Akeeba Backup version: (3.6.10)

EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: Please attach a ZIP file containing your Akeeba Backup log file in order for us to help you with any backup or restoration issue. If the file is over 2Mb, please upload it on your server and post a link to it.

Description of my issue:

JPA archive seems to unpack OK, however there is an error message relating to a write action to the Log file folder (see attached screen shot).  This site was developed on a HostGator host, packed up and moved to a 1&1 host.  I am not sure what files are supposed to be in the root for this host.

You are trying to restore a backup archive on a Plesk-powered server. On Plesk-powered servers the logs directory is a system-owned directory, used to store the server access logs. You cannot write to it. It so happens that the Joomla! log directory of your old site was also named logs. The good news is that you don't need to restore the contents of the logs directory (in fact, only the index.html file in it was ever backed up). So, just do this:

Enable the "Ignore most errors" option in Kickstart and retry the extraction.

If that fails, extract the archive locally using Akeeba eXtract Wizard and FTP the extracted files to your site. In this case do not run Kickstart again. Instead, access the restoration script as http://www.example.com/installation where www.example.com is the domain name of your site.

You will also need to create a directory named log (without a trailing s!) via FTP. At the final step of the restoration (the "Site Setup" step) do remember to edit the log path and remove the trailing s from the path. E.g. if it originally reads /homepages/43/d186672340/htdocs/logs change it to /homepages/43/d186672340/htdocs/log
