Mandatory information about my setup:

Have I read the related troubleshooter articles above before posting (which pages?)? Yes

Joomla! version: 2.5.7
PHP version: 5.3.6
MySQL version: 5.0.95
Host: Blanye
Akeeba Backup version: 3.6.8

Description of my issue:
I wanted to test out the Kickstart Pro 3.6.0 that can import directly from
The import works fine, and then when it tries to extract it I get:
Ugyldig header i arkivfil del 0, start 8
(invalid header in archive part 0, start 8).
Can I provide logfiles from somewhere?

Best regards Kenneth

If you download the same archive manually from S3 (e.g. using S3fox, S3 Explorer, Cyberduck or something similar) can you extract it using Kickstart?

I was just in the process of testing that, and that also fails.
I downloaded it via normal browser access, and uploaded it via ftp, that gives me the same error.

It looks like the archive is corrupt or it's missing part files. If this is a multipart archive and you have downloaded all the archive part files (e.g. .jpa, .j01, .j02, ...) I would have to take a look at the backup log file to see why the archive is corrupt. It could be something as simple as a timeout error while uploading the archive to Amazon S3 –leading to a corrupt, half-uploaded file– or something much more complex. But I'd really want to see a log file before calling it.

Ok, the file is a single 800 mb file.
I've just tried copying a local backup from the day before, and that is ok.
The log below is from the S3 backup from this night, which I'm trying to restore

This log file doesn't tell me much. The log level was set to "Information only". I need a log file with the log level set to "All Information and Debug", otherwise I don't have enough information to know what is going on. All I can see is that the transfer lasted less than a second. Objectively, this is impossible. 800Mb in less than a second? No way. I'm sure the transfer failed, but due to the lack of debugging information I have no idea why :(

He he, blitz :-)
I'll start a backup from the command line with the full logging.

Yes, that sounds like a good plan :)

Ok, I've set it to start within minuttes.
I just did a 'local' backup via backend, and there I also get the same error message, but of course the loglevel was set to information as well :-(
Ugyldig header i arkivfil del 0, start 27

Have you set the log level to "All information and debug" in the Configuration page?

The command line S3 backup failed?
I've attached the log.
I'm going to retry.

The local backup used a different profile, so I hadn't change the loglevel there, as it worked the day before yesterday (yesterday was CB upgraded to 1.9).
The remote S3 failed again.
I've attached the log below:

OK, now we are seeing something. The backup failed. It's one of two issues:
1. you ran out of free disk space
2. your CRON jobs have a hard timeout of 90 seconds or you've set the CRON jobs to start too close to each other

1) I have 'unlimited' diskspace, and I've only used 6 GB
2) That would be new, I'll ask the provider, it has worked for a long time, but I'll wait a while to see if anything changes :-).

The backend job seemed to be completed, I've attached the log below.
I'll try and launch it to the S3 from backend as well.

Uploading to S3 from the back-end will certainly fail if you have a single part 800Mb archive. You'll need to set a "part size for split archives" in the 10-50Mb area (depending on many factors) to see the transfer going through.

I've done the backup now, and that seemed to work, the S3 has a ton of files of 50 mb now.
Now I'm going to try and do a restore of them (this is creating havoc on my bandwidth usage which HAS limitations :-D

Or you can try restoring directly to an on-line server (ideally not the same as your live site's hosting account) using Kickstart Pro ;)

That was the plan, it stalled at 83,xx% in both firefox and IE.

Uh, sounds like your host is either getting a full disk or applying a CPU limit and kills the download process. You'll have to go the manual download route :(
