Joomla! version: 2.5.7

EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: Please attach a ZIP file containing your Akeeba Backup log file in order for us to help you with any backup or restoration issue. If the file is over 2Mb, please upload it on your server and post a link to it.

Description of my issue:
When configuring a profile with multiple databases, the backup fails with the same error
When checking the database connection, a mispelled dbase name stills shows as successful connection?
When I created a databases only profile, the backup worked.

This workaround works for me, so I'm all OK, I just thought you might like to know the issue of testing connection on additional dbase still seems to be around from the #8432 ticket.

Can provide logs if you need.
Cheers

Ticket 8432 is from 30 months ago. The way the test works has not changed since. The connection test does not check the database name. It only tests the hostname, username and password. The reason is that it can't really tell if the database exists and is empty, or if the database doesn't exist, or if it does exist, it can connect but it can't pull a list of tables due to user restrictions. So it ends up not testing anything beyond the connection to the db server.
