Mandatory information about my setup:

Have I read the related troubleshooter articles above before posting (which pages?)? Yes
Have I searched the tickets before posting? Yes tried to
Have I read the documentation before posting (which pages?)? Yes
Joomla! version: 2.56
PHP version: (unknown)
MySQL version: (unknown)
Host: (Heart Internet)
Akeeba Backup version: 3.6.1 Pro

EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: Please attach a ZIP file containing your Akeeba Backup log file in order for us to help you with any backup or restoration issue. If the file is over 2Mb, please upload it on your server and post a link to it.

I have followed the guide to run cron backups but I am unable to find the cli directory or the akeeba-backup.php file

I have spoken with my hosts to confirm my path and they returned /usr/bin/php

so I am using /usr/bin/php/home/sites/site_name*/public_html/cli/akeeba-backup.php

*site name changed for post purposes.

Can you please advise on where this may be or why I am not seeing it so I can resolve this issue and run cron backups.

Sure I am being daft!

Leave a space between /usr/bin/php and the rest of the command line.

Thanks for that, I tried with a space and now I get "Your script returned the following: Status: 404 Not Found X-Powered-By:PHP/5.3.10 Content-type:text/html No input file specified" after adding the space in the path along with --profile=1 which is the one I want to run.

Your host has given you the wrong path to PHP. They've given you the path to PHP CGI, which is meant to be used by web servers. You need the path to PHP CLI, the command-line version of PHP designed for use by command-line scripts and CRON jobs.

Furthermore I am not sure about the path to the script itself. Please upgrade to Akeeba Backup 3.6.7 and consult the Scheduling Information page in the component. It will tell you the correct exact command line, except for the PHP path.
