Joomla! version: (2.5.7)
PHP version: (5.3.10)
MySQL version: (5.1.63-cll)
Host: (InMotion.com)
Akeeba Backup version: (Akeeba Backup Professional 3.6.7 (2012-10-13))

EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: Please attach a ZIP file containing your Akeeba Backup log file: attached

Description of my issue:
I attempted to transfer my site from http://test.stretchclock.com/more to http://www.stretchclock.com/more

(Both locations are hosted on the same InMotion hosting account)

The Akeeba site transfer completed successfully and i was taken to the restore page. I successfully restored the db and was taken to the final page where i deleted the installation directory. then i was redirected to my new home page: http://www.stretchclock.com/more/index.php

and recevied the following error:
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '"' in /home/greatb12/public_html/stretchclock.com/www/more/configuration.php on line 28

I deleted the www.stretchclock.com/more directory, and attempted the same transfer.

i got the exact same results the second time.

thank you for your help.

That's very strange. You know what that means? That the original site's configuration.php, included in Akeeba Backup's backup archive, is corrupt. The same holds true for Site Transfer Wizard: instead of a backup archive the files are transferred to the new server.

Please run the process again. As soon as you get the error message use your FTP programme to download the configuration.php file in the "more" directory. Rename it to .txt, ZIP it and attach it here. I'd like to take a look at it.

Thank you Nicholas, your message helped me identify the problem.

In the configuration.php there was an illegal character in my admin password and smtp password. I used a backslash \ to escape the character, and it works now.

Strangely, the illegal character works on the site that I am copying from. Both sites are hosted on the same shared hosted account.

thank you for your help. your software and your support is excellent!

OK, that sounds plausible. Why it worked on your old site I don't know. I'm glad it's all working now!
