Mandatory information about my setup:

Have I read the related troubleshooter articles above before posting (which pages?)? No

Joomla! version: 3.0.1
PHP version: 5.3.15
MySQL version:

Server: Localhost via UNIX socket
Server version: 5.5.27-cll
Protocol version: 10
User: ledarska@localhost
MySQL charset: UTF-8 Unicode (utf8)

cpsrvd 11.32.5.11
MySQL client version: 4.1.22
PHP extension: mysql

Host: (optional, but it helps us help you)
Akeeba Backup version: Akeeba Backup Professional 3.6.6.rc1 (2012-09-27)
+ have also Admin Tools 2.4.0 installed.

EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: Please attach a ZIP file containing your Akeeba Backup log file in order for us to help you with any backup or restoration issue. If the file is over 2Mb, please upload it on your server and post a link to it.

Description of my issue:
Three things;
1: I cannot update to 3.6.6. I click the button in Akeeba Backup "Update Found! Click to update". but after clicking "Update to the latest version" on the next page the screen goes blank and then it is still the older version installed.
2. All of a sudden my site started throwing the following error:
0 SQL=SELECT `u`.`id`,`u`.`email` FROM `jg10e_user_usergroup_map` INNER JOIN `jg10e_users` AS `u` ON(`g`.`user_id` = `u`.`id` WHERE `g`.`group_id` = '8' AND `u`.`block` = '0' AND `u`.`sendEmail` = '1'
and I could not access frontend or backend at all.
After troubleshooting the site starting working again when I went into the database and deactived plugin "System - One Click Action" which states it "Allows developers to create One Time Passwords which log in a back-end user and automatically forward them to a specific URL. Required by AkeebaBackup.com's update check plugins."
3. The install function of my Joomla site is buggy. "It says Extensions installation enhanced by Akeeba Backup" but I can install hardly any extensions that way. When I click "Back to standard installer" it works though. Sorry I can not be more specific about this third issue but by using the Akeeba Backup enhancment nothing happens and I am just returned to the same page.

Would appreciate quick assistance or reply here as I use your software on several other site and have been very happy with their function so far apart from this.

Best regards,
Markus

1. This is a known issue (fixed in the stable). You have to upgrade manually, installing the stable version on top of the RC just like any other Joomla! extension.

2. This is also a known issue (fixed in the stable). Just delete the plugins/system/akeebaupdatecheck directory

3. Again, this is a known issue which is fixed in the stable release.

One important thing: you said you are using MySQL 4.1. This version of MySQL is not supported by Joomla! 3 and our software.

Hi Nicholas!
Thanks for the quick reply, appreciate it and have installed Stable version now and all seems to be working fine.
Regarding MySQL I just cut and pasted from phpMyAdmin. I believe the correct version no for what I am running is 5.5.27-cll.
I doublechecked in CPanel and that is what it says there to.
I believe in phpMyAdmin it is the line:
Server version: 5.5.27-cll
I do not know what the line:
MySQL client version: 4.1.22
actually means, but all seems to be working fine so I should be alright :-)
Thanks for the bringing it up though.

I'm glad it's all working now!

BTW, the client version in phpMyAdmin has to do with the library used to connect to the server. It's not the MySQL server version :)
