Joomla! version: (2.5.7)
PHP version: (5.3)
MySQL version: (unknown)
Host: (optional, but it helps us help you)
Akeeba Backup version: (3.5.6)

EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: Please attach a ZIP file containing your Akeeba Backup log file in order for us to help you with any backup or restoration issue. If the file is over 2Mb, please upload it on your server and post a link to it.

Description of my issue: Not so much an issue maybe a bug. When I install the component I get a warning that I am running PHP 5.2 despite having 5.3. Everything works and I can switch the warning off. It happened on two sites now. Not a big problem, it just forces me to go back and check the PHP version.

I have checked the behaviour of the warning under different versions of PHP 5.2, 5.3 and 5.4. I'm sure that it only appears on versions lower than 5.3. Please double check your PHP version, I think you are accidentally using PHP 5.2.

Go to your site's back-end, Site, System Information and click on the PHP Information tab. What is the PHP version written over there in big, bold, blue letters next to the big PHP logo?

Also, FYI, there is no such thing as version 3.5.6 of Akeeba Backup. You either have 3.5.a1 to 3.5.2 or 3.6.0 to 3.6.5. Which one is it?

My bad it is a typo, should have been 3.6.5, latest.

You are right on the system Info/PHP info it comes as 5.2.17.

Will take up with service providers as the php switch thing should have given me the 5.3 version.

Thanks for your time, by the way I haven't come across any problems using it under 5.2 version only the warning.

OK, that's what I figured :)

Right now, my software still works with PHP 5.2. However, PHP 5.2 is end of life since January 2011. It already has several confirmed security vulnerabilities which can be realistically exploited to compromise your server. Moreover, new Joomla! version will require PHP 5.3. I don't see any point in insisting on supporting an outdated, insecure version of PHP. If I have to implement a new feature and it only works on PHP 5.3 I will break compatibility with PHP 5.2 without any other warning than the one given since Akeeba Backup 3.5.a1.

OK. Talked to the providers and they said that Joomla as a default sets the .htaccess file as PHP5

and one needs to change the line

SetEnv DEFAULT_PHP_VERSION 5
to
SetEnv DEFAULT_PHP_VERSION 53

And now the info is showing 5.3.10

Thanks for your patience, hopefully this can help someone else.

Keep up the good work.
