Description of my issue:

Hey Nicholas,

I have for the second time a bug with database and update.
Maybe it is normal after the new version but i do not like it ;-)

i had an akeeba lik 3.5....
it worked already good and it worked good with automatic update with cronjob.
I had a few profiles for backups.

i wanted to update the akeeba backup but i get an error -1-
Then the akeeba was removed of my components panel in administrator.
In extensions i could see him and uninstalled it. After that i installed the new akeeba backup 3.6.3.
The problem now is that all my profiles are gone :-S

Does the uninstalling also delete the database?
Or is the database different than the previous version?

When uninstalling the component all of its tables, files and folders are deleted. Yes, you have lost the profiles.

There is a workaround. Restore an earlier backup (which you have hopefully kept somewhere outside of your site's server) to a local server, e.g. one set up with XAMPP, MAMP, WAMPServer and so on. Take the #__ak_profiles table, dump it with phpMyAdmin and restore it on your love site. Then take the administrator/components/com_akeeba/akeeba/serverkey.php file from the restored local site and move it to your live site's administrator/components/com_akeeba/akeeba directory, overwriting the existing file. Done! Your profiles are now restored.
