You have an old site in a directory called "old" in your site's root directory (where your current Joomla! site's file are stored). Inside that directory there are old backup archives. Trying to back them up causes the backup archive (the .jpa file) to become very big. In fact, it becomes bigger than your disk quota (the maximum amount of disk space your hosting company allows you to use) and the backup fails.
This is very easy to work around. We will be excluding the old site's directory from the backup. Follow these steps:
- Log in to your Joomla! site's back-end
- Click on Components, then click on Akeeba Backup
- Click on the icon "Files and Directories Exclusion". It's towards the bottom of the page.
- You see a directory browser. Take a look at the left-hand box. It lists your directories and has some icons next to them. Slowly scroll the list until you find the line reading "old". To its left there are three icons. Click on the leftmost one. It starts spinning. After a short while (1 to 5 seconds) it stops spinning and becomes yellow.
- Click on the Control Panel icon at the top, right-hand side of the page (this area is called the "toolbar")
Now take a new backup. It
should work.
If it doesn't, I would urge you to use your favourite FTP programme (e.g. FileZilla) to download the backups stored in the old site. They are inside the directory
old/administrator/components/com_akeeba/backup. Then, delete those files. Do the same download/delete for the backup archives stored in your main site, i.e. the administrator/components/com_akeeba/backup directory.
If all else fails, please ZIP and attach the new backup log file so that I can help you.
