Description of my issue:
Hi,
Full site backup and All configured databases (archive file) work fine but Main site database only (SQL file) creates empty file.

The confirmation email looks fine.

Akeeba Backup has completed backing up your site using the front-end backup feature. You may visit the site's administrator section to download the backup.

The new backup was taken with profile #1. It consists of 1 part(s). The full list of files of this backup set is the following:

When you're using the "Main database only (SQL file)" you are creating a special case of a backup. There is no backup archive, just a SQL dump file. This may be throwing off some parts of Akeeba Backup which are designed to work with archives. I don't think that the file is empty, it simply doesn't get listed in the email. If you to the Administer Backup Files page you should be able to see it there.

If I schedule the backup the file is empty, but if I create the backup through Backup Now button the file is fine.

I have scheduled the backup through cron task.

As long as you're using the same profile, it doesn't matter how you launch the backup (back-end, front-end, lite mode, command line CRON job, JSON API). So, how did you set up your CRON job? Can you give me the command line of the CRON job, replacing paths/passwords as this is a public ticket?

php /home/XXX/public_html/cli/akeeba-backup.php >/dev/null 2>&1

If I set the backup type to Full Backup or All configured databases (archive file) it works without any problem.

Can you try removing the ">/dev/null 2>&1" and paste here the result of the CRON job when the backup type is set to main site database only?

I have tried with the same results.

I have attached a print screen of files.

That was a very interesting bug which has to do with the way the Joomla! Platform (and the JApplicationCli we're using in the CRON scripts) differs in handling MySQL connections than the CMS. I have just uploaded a new dev release. Can you please install it on your site and verify that it's fixing the problem you were experiencing?
