Just updated my version of Akeeba - now 3.2.7
Joomla! version: (1.5.1)

MySQL version: (5)
Host: (1and1.com)
Akeeba Backup version: (3.2.7)

Description of my issue: My uploaded was stalling and showing script stopped, but now it is just stopping and saying check output directory permissions... and possible not enough space... there is about 9 gigs clear to that drive... is that enough? It's probably one gig for the backup...

I suppose the Joomla! version is still 1.5.11, not 1.5.1 :)

Anyway, I think I know what the problem is. It's a limitation with 1&1 not allowing files bigger than 5Mb (or 10Mb? I can't remember exactly) to be created by PHP. It's easy to work around. We will tell Akeeba Backup to split your archive into smaller files. Please go to your Akeeba Backup's Configuration page and find the Archiver Engine row. Click on the "Configure..." button next to it. In the pane which opens set "Part size for split archives" to 5Mb. If this doesn't work you may also want to try 2Mb. Take a new backup. The backup creates files with extensions .jpa, .j01, .j02 and so on. You will need all of them to restore the backup.

Can't seem to select the size of the splits... the slider won't move..........surprised that this is happening....
I've backed up this site many many times....

If the slider won't move it's either a partial installation or a stale browser cache. Try reinstalling the component and clearing your browser's cache.

That's it. It only reads "deny from all".

Hi nicholas....I successfully created a split backup (zip and jpa) the zip didn't want to open locally with MAMP..not sure what I was doing wrong ....I am using kickstart....I usually use zip for local unpacking and jpa when I go back to restore LIVE...and then use kickstart.... I appreciate how hard you work..

on this site I am working on....I realized finally that the client uploaded large videos of an event in a directory which caused the size increase suddenly....

I asked about the htaccess file because I had experienced a malware intrusion which was no fun at all...many sites to worry about and upgrade patches to do....I have learned my lesson I believe on how many hours I need to work on security... thanks for what you do for us joomla developers....

I'll keep working on the split backup locally.... akeeba seemed to auto split this backup...

the zip didn't want to open locally with MAMP

Please note that if you are trying to use Mac OS X's Archive Utility it won't work. Neither will the command line unzip command or most of extraction software available for Mac. You have to use Kickstart. If Kickstart's what you've been using, make sure you transfer all archive parts (.zip, .z01, .z02, ...) before launching Kickstart.

I realized finally that the client uploaded large videos of an event in a directory which caused the size increase suddenly

OK that makes sense.

I have learned my lesson I believe on how many hours I need to work on security

I always have a slide in my security presentation which reads: "Security Is A Process". The more time you put into securing your site the less time you'll be wasting fixing a hacked site. Counter intuitive for mosts people but that's how security works in general (even when talking about securing premises, people, cargo and so on).

I'll keep working on the split backup locally.... akeeba seemed to auto split this backup...

If the profile tells AB to split the archive it always does :)
