Joomla! version: 2.5.6
PHP version: 5.2.9
MySQL version: (5.0.95)
Host: (Apache/2.2.17 (Unix)
Akeeba Backup version: Akeeba Backup Professional 3.6.1

Description of my issue:

Akeeba Backup is able to create a backup and store it on the local webhosting, processing the file(s) to Dropbox ends up with errors.
I'm not able to see details why the upload to Dropbox failed. I did do the auth procedure.
Thank you in advance for your support.

Sorry for the delay in the reply, I had to run some tests to make sure it's not a bug. It simply seems that your server is not allowing Akeeba Backup to communicate with Dropbox. Usually this happens because there is a firewall which forbids outbound connections. The problem is linked to Dropbox' official API using two different endpoints (URLs) for its functions:
- https://api.dropbox.com/1/ for all API calls except uploading/downloading files
- https://api-content.dropbox.com/1/ for uploading/downloading files
The latter URL seems to be a multicast domain name, i.e. it may resolve to a different IP depending on where in the world your server is and other factors. This could make it possible to perform an authentications (it uses the first URL) but not upload files (it uses the second URL).

If you want my advice, you're better off using Box.net or, even better, Amazon S3.

Box.net is working, but I'm not able to setup a file directory in the Akeebabackup GUI. Only a dropdown box appears without any choice.

I just fixed it,

Thank you for your support and your wonderful product Nicholas. I will be a loyal customer.
