The log file is from version 3.5.2. I guess this means that Restore Points don't start at all after you upgraded which indicates a partial or broken update. Please go to Extensions, Manage Plugins on your site and disable the "System - System Restore Points" plugin. Then install Akeeba Backup Professional 3.6.0 again on your site. Finally, re-enable the "System - System Restore Points" plugin.

Hi Nicholas,
Thanks for the prompt response.
Yes you are correct, this has been a problem since the upgrade the other day.
I've followed you instructions but am still getting the same problem.

I've attached the latest log file for your info.

Try disabling the plugin. Does your extension install? If it does, try taking a new backup of your site. Does that work?

Yes, without the plugin the extension installs fine (i.e. not usng the Akeeba enhanced)
Also the full site backups work fine. I take regular nightly backups using the remote CLI, and also tried a full "manual" backup yesterday which was successful.
It only seems to be the restore points which is the problem.

Do you have this issue with any extension's installation or just a particular extension only? If so, which one?

It appears to be any. (I've tried two which I had to apply on the site)

I was wondering why I can't replicate this issue, until I looked closely at your PHP version: 5.2.17.

It turns out that Akeeba Backup 3.6.0's System Restore Points feature is not compatible with PHP 5.3 and I never tested it with PHP 5.2 (I only tested full backup scenarios with PHP 5.2). The incompatibility was introduced due to the changes I made to make the component compatible with the upcoming Joomla! 3.0. I have good news, though! It seems that there is a workaround. Please download and install the latest dev release. Don't freak out because it's listed as alpha; it's very stable. The only changes since 3.6.0 are the bug fix in question and a CSS fix for the Live Update icon floating behind the right-hand column in Akeeba Backup's Control Panel page.

In order to test the dev release please disable the "System - System Restore Points" plugin and install the dev release on top of your existing version. Then re-enable the "System - System Restore Points" and try installing another extension so that you trigger the system restore points. The SRP backup should complete successfully and the extension installed.

Yup - Looks as though that's working ok now.
Thank you for the quick response.
I assume that if I leave my live-update configured as is, then the next "Stable" release will just update it again.?

Excellent! That was the feedback I was hoping for :)

Yes, leave the Live Update setting as they are right now and the next stable release will update your Akeeba Backup installation.
