Description of my issue:

Hello,

We're trying to use the Dropbox Data processing engine for a list of websites. But we have a problem.
Here is what I've done :

I used 2 websites on two different hosts :
site a) Linked with dropbox(steps)->backup->success
site b) Copied the tokens->backup->You have not linked Akeeba Backup with your DropBox account

Then I tried to do the same, but with websites on the same host
site a) Linked with dropbox(steps)->backup->success
site c) Copied the tokens->backup->succes

So I decided to do it again with site b, on the different host
site b) Copied the tokens->backup->You have not linked Akeeba Backup with your DropBox account

So I don't know if I do something wrong or if there is another problem ?

Thanks and have a nice day !

Hi Pierre,

The only way I can make it work in a similar scenario is:
- Link Site A with Dropbox
- Copy the tokens to Site B
- Copy the tokens to Site C
- and so on.

If at any point you link again any site with Dropbox you will have to copy the new tokens to all of the other sites. This is a Dropbox limitation. They generate per-application tokens, not per-installation. I don't understand why. It's as if they expect that only SaaS applications will ever access their service :(

Hi,

I understand this, but this is exactly what I did.

site a) Linked with dropbox(steps)->backup->success
site c) Copied the same tokens->backup->succes
site b) Copied the same tokens->backup->You have not linked Akeeba Backup with your DropBox account

I never click on the steps button again.

Just to do another test, I tried on another site :
site d) Copied the same tokens->backup->You have not linked Akeeba Backup with your DropBox account
.
If you want, the site b is a test website, I can give you an access.

Is there another restriction ?

As much as I can tell from the skinny Dropbox API documentation there is no restriction. But, then again, the API is completely opaque and badly documented. Maybe they do have restrictions on the number of IPs you can access their API from and they don't tell anyone about it :(

Ok, thanks for your help.
I'll continue to do some tests about it, if I find something interresting, I'll write you here.
