Description of my issue:

I have several doubts.

1 - Is there a linux executable which can extract jpa and jps?

I see that kickstart pro downloads from S3 so that the absence of such command is unimportant

- Is there a way of reducing resources?

I have seen that there is a large file treshold which if it were set to 0.06 MB the zip engine would presumably not compress anything. Is JPA considerably less resource intensive than ZIP? I am on shared hosting and I would like Akeeba to use as little resources as possible, without needing to generate compressed archives.

- Is there a way of transferring Akeeba settings from one site to another and from one profile to another that would work without using phpMyAdmin?

- What are the latest Akeeba Backup releases compatible with Joomla 1.5? I have procrastinated upgrading. If my suspicions are right this would be 3.4.3

Thank you

1. Linux executable: Akeeba eXtract Wizard's got executables for 32- and 64-bit Linux. Kickstart, written in PHP, runs on every and all platforms

2. Resource usage. The threshold can be user-defined. Certainly JPA is less resource intensive than ZIP as it doesn't have to calculate file checksums. It's documented :) You can't turn off compression and even if you could that would save minimal amounts of resources. The big resource usage is when dumping the database and traversing the entire file system.

3. Transferring settings between sites is not possible, even with phpMyAdmin, due to the per-site encryption used. You can copy profiles through Akeeba Backup itself, on the same site. Copying a profile copies its settings.

4. The answer also depends on your PHP version. There's a page for that: https://www.akeebabackup.com/compatibility.html
