Description of my issue:
I recently upgraded to the professional to use the added features, one specifically was setting up a cron to backup using the remote.phar. I'm running the proper version of PHP that is suppose to have Phar working by default, but it seams it's not. I do realize this isn't as much of a Akeeba issue since it seems the php install might be missing it, but I can't find a way to make phar extensions to work. If there is any suggestions from your side I would greatly appreciate it. I have searched and can't find how to make it work since the .so isn't part of 5.3.x anymore. Thanks for your time and completely understand if this is an issue you choose not to help with, I just want to use Akeeba to its fullest :)

Thanks,
Greg

Hi Greg,

You are right, this is a PHP setup issue. In some cases, PHP is compiled without Phar support and you have to recompile PHP to add such support. Normally you can ask your host to do that for you as you can't recompile PHP on your own. It requires root access and specific instructions for the distribution you're using.
