Description of my issue:

Running Joomla 1.5.26 Upgraded to latest Akeeba Backup. Ran config optimizer successfully. Changed my backup output directory to the root above public html. Started a backup - crashed with following text:

Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator, [email protected] and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
Apache Server at shijackson.com Port 80

Checked cpanel, realized ran out of disk space during backup. Now get the internal error for everything, site is down.

As you said, your real problem is that you ran out of disk space. Try removing old and incomplete backup archives from both administrator/components/com_akeeba/backup and your new backup output directory.

First thing I did, also upgraded the site to an additional 250mb of space. Rather than getting a suspension notice, I get a 500 error. Akeeba seems to still be calling for file that can't be found.

Akeeba Backup ONLY runs when you launch a backup. Since you can't get into your site, the issue is unrelated to Akeeba Backup. Code which doesn't run obviously can't affect your site. If you don't believe me, you can always remove Akeeba Backup manually from your site. Remove the following folders and files (some of them may not be present on your site):
- administrator/components/com_akeeba
- components/com_akeeba
- administrator/modules/mod_akadmin
- media/com_akeeba
- plugins/system/srp
- plugins/system/srp.php
- plugins/system/srp.xml
- plugins/system/akeebaupdatecheck
- plugins/system/akeebaupdatecheck.php
- plugins/system/akeebaupdatecheck.xml
- plugins/system/aklazy
- plugins/system/aklazy.xml
- plugins/system/aklazy.php
- plugins/system/oneclickaction
- plugins/system/oneclickaction.php
- plugins/system/oneclickaction.xml
By doing that you are leaving no trace of Akeeba Backup on your site. If you are still unable to log in to your site you have to take a look at your error log and see what is really causing the problem.

Hi, ok, something apparently was corrupted when I ran out of space. Suspended and and then unsuspended the account and I'm back in business. Thanks for your help. On the positive side, I now have Akeeba Backup and Admin Tools Pro!

Thanks Again,
Keith

Hm, sounds like the quota limit file was corrupt. I'm glad you found an easy workaround!
