Joomla! version: (2.5.5)
PHP version: (unknown)
MySQL version: (unknown)
Host: (optional, but it helps us help you)
Akeeba Backup version: (3.5.1)

Description of my issue:
Extension manager said the upgrade to 3.5.2 available but when I click update it failed saying could not find manifest file.
Went to Akeeba backup and did the upgrade there and it worked fine.

You should never use Joomla!'s extension manager to update the Professional releases of our software. In theory, Akeeba Backup 3.5.a1 and later should remove the entry from Joomla!'s Extensions Manager to prevent you from doing that.

thanks Nicholas
I am surprised as I thought the extensions update facility used some of your software.
No worries I will remember this.
Thanks for all your fine work

The Core releases can be updated with the Joomla! updates manager. The Professional releases cannot. The reason is quite easy to figure out. Professional releases are not freely available for download. You have to send a Download ID to our server to validate that you have a subscription and you're allowed to download the component. This is something that Joomla!'s update manager cannot do at the moment.
