Joomla! version: (2.5.4)
PHP version: (5.3)
MySQL version: (unknown)
Host: (optional, but it helps us help you)
Akeeba Backup version: (3.5.1)

I have upgraded to joomal 2.5 from 1.5.26 and reinstalled Akeeba. I have a dump of the 4 jos_ak tables from 1.5 version. I have changed the table prefix to j25_ak and run the query to import the data. My 4 profiles appear in akeeba 3.5.1 however the Amazon s3 config is missing. Should this approach work have you changed the format of database tables?

You have to first copy the file administrator/components/com_akeeba/akeeba/serverkey.php to the new site, then copy the ak_* tables. The serverkey.php file contains the encryption key used to encrypt your settings in the database. Without it Akeeba Backup can't decrypt your settings and resets them to the default values. We've implemented this feature as a protection against third party extensions' SQL injection vulnerabilities. Even if an attacker manages to dump the settings of Akeeba Backup they will be an encrypted mess, not allowing the attacker to gain access to sensitive information, like Amazon S3 keys.
