Joomla! version: 1.5.26
PHP version: 5.2.11
MySQL version: 5.0.27
Host: Open Source Host
Akeeba Backup version: 3.4.3

No ZIP is attached. I could not download the log. Every time I try, any browser I use crashes. If you need this log to troubleshoot, please advise how I might get it to you. Thanks.

Description of my issue:

Akeeba backup is working fine, but when I try to extract using 3.3 of the eXtract wizard, I keep getting "invalid archive," and the extraction does not complete.

How did you download the backup archive? If you downloaded through your browser instead of using FTP please try re-downloading the backup archive using FTP in Binary Transfer mode. Our third video tutorial for Akeeba Backup demonstrates how to do that.

Is this a multi-part backup archive? In order to find this out please go to Akeeba Backup's Administer Backup Files page and check the rightmost column for the backup record. If you see Part 00, Part 01 and so on it's a multi-part backup archive. In this case you have to download all parts (.jpa, .j01, .j02, ... or .zip, .z01, .z02, ...) and place them in the same directory. Otherwise the archive cannot be extracted.

Can you use Akeeba Kickstart? One simple way is to install a local server environment (e.g. XAMPP, WAMP, MAMP, ...) and put kickstart.php and the backup archive's part files into its root folder, then access kickstart.php locally (e.g. http://localhost/kickstart.php). Sometimes eXtract Wizard can't extract an archive but Kickstart can.

Thanks for all of this advice, Nicholas. Please bear with me. XCan you provide a URL to the video you reference. I'm blind and I'm old, and I ain't got much gold. Would appreciate it.

Sure thing! Our video tutorials are available from the Videos link on the top of each page of this site. The video I am talking about is AB03 - Downloading your archives through FTP.
