Joomla! version: (unknown)
PHP version: (unknown)
MySQL version: (unknown)
Host: (optional, but it helps us help you)
Akeeba Backup version: (unknown)

EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: Please attach a ZIP file containing your Akeeba Backup log file in order for us to help you with any backup or restoration issue. If the file is over 2Mb, please upload it on your server and post a link to it.

Description of my issue:

I have a website that has to run php as FastCGI module (a SugarCRM issue). I can't get Akeeba Backup to upload any backups to DropBox when the files are broken up into anything larger than 2gb. It works fine if I switch PHP to an Apache Module (but then SugarCRM breaks).

I've found articles about file upload size being limited and can be changed by setting FcgidMaxRequestLen much large (this fixed the problem up installing modules) but it hasn't fixed the file size upload to DropBox, no matter how big I make it.

I'm guessing this isn't really an Akeeba Backup problem, but have you come across this before and do you know what the fix it.

Thanks

You are right in guessing that it's not an Akeeba Backup issue and that I've run across it many times in the past :) This is actually a limitation of PHP. Files over 2Gb are not handled well by any version of PHP except the native 64-bit Linux binary. This has to do with the internals of PHP. All you can do is go to Akeeba Backup's Configuration and set a part size lower than 2Gb, e.g. 2047Mb.

Also note that there is a secondary limitation, this time by DropBox' API. The maximum size of files you can upload to DropBox is 100Mb. This means that you have to set up a part size of at most 100Mb. Unfortunately, this limitation is imposed by DropBox' API and can not be worked around :( That limitation is documented.

Sorry - I didn't mean 2gb, I meant 2mb.

On another site - where I'm able to use PHP as an Apache Module, i can upload pats of 20mb fine.

Using 2mb is OK, it just means once the site is complete there's going to be a whole shed load of files for each backup :-(

I don't think so - the sites are both backing up to different DropBox accounts

I meant the need to unblock the IP address ranges.
