Hello, there Akeeba Backup Professional with the same update problems? Or it only concerns the Akeeba Backup Core (the free version)? Thank you.

Since the update problems are caused by Joomla! bugs, they of course concern both the Core and Professional releases, as well as any other component out there. It just happens that Akeeba Backup 3.5.0 has made large enough changes to trigger those Joomla! bugs.

Will there soon be a new version that I can install it without hesitation? Currently I prefer to stay with version 3.4.3 Akeeba Backup Professional. Unfortunately, I read a lot about the current problems.

Will I release a version which "doesn't have problems"? Since all the problems are caused by Joomla!'s installer which is not written by yours truly and I am not in charge of releasing new versions of Joomla!. With that in mind, how can I ever lie about releasing a version of my software which doesn't trigger a bug in Joomla! if I am not in a position to ensure that the Joomla! bug will definitely be fixed by the time I release my next version? Besides, for all Joomla! bugs which might affect you I have written the workaround at least six teams each on the public tickets. So, what do you want me to say? That I have spoken with Mark Dexter of the Joomla! bug squad and agreed that I can submit pat hes for the known issues? Yes, we did, on Saturday. Will my patches make it for the next Joomla! release? Nope, not a chance. It will be released on June 4th which is way too close. Will they make it in Joomla! 2.5.6? Maybe. I am not the one deciding that (let alone that I have to first write the patches). The only two things I can definitely say are:
1. Akeeba Backup 3.5.0 is rock solid. The only known problems are Joomla! bugs for which a workaround already exists.
2. These bugs will go away once I submit patches for them and the patches are accepted.
