Joomla! version: (1.5.26)

MySQL version: (5.1.62-cll)
Host: (optional, but it helps us help you)
Akeeba Backup version: (3.4.3)

Description of my issue:

Eventhough Akeeba backup for Joomla 1.5 does not support version 3.5, version 3.4.3 is the latest for Joomla 1.5, I keep receiving daily e-mails from all my websites telling me to update to Akeeba Backup 3.5.

I could disable notifications BUT if a newer version for Akeeba backup for Joomla 1.5 would appear I won't know.

Could you please tell me what to do?

Thanks!

Angel

Hi Angel,

I would recommend turning off the update emails. There are no plans to release a new version for Joomla! 1.5 as we are not going to add more features to Akeeba Backup 3.4.3. A new release would only be warranted in the case of a security issue or a grave bug. In the 5 and a half year history of JoomlaPack and Akeeba Backup there have only been two security issues, one low priority because of a forgotten line and one medium priority affecting very few users. Given our track record, the possibility of a security release is unlikely. Any major bugs should have already been discovered in the previous two months, so that doesn't sound very plausible either. So I do recommend to turn off those update emails.

In the unlikely event we do issue a version 3.4.4, it wouldn't be made available through Live Update. The reason is that due to the way Live Update works (it checks the release date, not version number, to decide which version is newer) if I released a version 3.4.4 through the Live Update channel, users of 3.5.x would end up downgrading with detrimental effects. Remember that the emails are sent based on Live Update information. So if we do release a version 3.4.4 we will issue a release announcement on our site and our Twitter account, with upgrade instructions. You can always subscribe to our RSS feed to get information on updates to our software.
