Hi

This morning I tried to install the 3.5.a2 professional update. During the process my computer just froze. After I got a white screen with 500 error server.

I am now NOT able to login into the backend of my website so I can seem to resolve this issue. Please HELP!

Hi,

Please refer to the "The installation / update broke my site!" section of our documentation page on installation. Essentially you have to delete or rename the administrator/modules/mod_akadmin directory and reinstall the component without previously uninstalling it.

Hi Nicholas

Thank you for your reply. According to your documentation I need to remove certain files however none of these are present. The only files ther are:
administrator/modules/mod_akadmin/

mod_akadmin.php
mod_akadmin.xml

Should I remove these?

I decided to delete the administrator/modules/mod_akadmin/ folder and this let me have access to the backend again.

I then went to your site to get the latest version of Akeeba but noticed that 3.5.a2 was a "testing" version. I had only tried to upgrade in the first place because I received an email and did not know it was a testing version. I decided to install the previous 3.4.3(Stable) version instead.

I did this and then tried to backup my website. However I get the following error:

The backup operation has been halted because an error was detected.
The last error message was:

AJAX Loading Error
HTTP Status: 500 (Internal Server Error)
Internal status: error
XHR ReadyState: 4
Raw server response:

Please click the 'View Log' button on the toolbar to view the Akeeba Backup log file for further information.

I have gone through each of the steps in the troubleshooting wizard but it keeps crashing.

You should not downgrade Akeeba Backup versions, it doesn't work. If you really want to do that, you have to do some preparation. Remove the following directories:
- administrator/components/com_akeeba and its contents, except the administrator/components/com_akeeba/backup folder.
- components/com_akeeba and its contents
- administrator/modules/mod_akadmin and its contents
- plugins/system/srp and its contents
- plugins/system/akeebaupdatecheck and its contents
Then please re-install Akeeba Backup Professional 3.4.3. This should keep your settings and your backups and successfully downgrade you to 3.4.3.

See above. You have leftover files from 3.5.x which cause this issue.

Hi Nicholas

Thanks for everything, I now have 3.4.3 installed and working. The reason I ran into problems was that I received several emails notifying me "To install the update" and I clicked the link without realising it was an Alpha version.

Is it possible to

  1. Only be notified of Stable Releases or

  1. Turn off notifications

I have Akeeba Backup Professional installed on several of my client websites. I only recently purchased the Pro version. I intend to install it on all my client websites in the coming weeks. This will mean I get lots of emails so would prefer to turn this off in most cases any only have it activated on my own website so I can be notified of updates.

I will always check in future to see if its Stable. Had to learn the hard way!

Of course it is! There is such a feature in the Component Parameters of Akeeba Backup. You can read the documentation about the "Minimum release stability for update notifications" option.
