From the release announcement:
Akeeba Backup 3.5.a2 addresses known issues regarding the Live Update integration, affecting version 3.5.a1. This new version only supports Joomla! 2.5.1 or later. If you have one of those older versions of Joomla! you can download and install the appropriate version specified in our version compatibility chart.

You said:
Joomla! version: 1.5.26

I believe that explains it :)

Also note that the version in Live Update was 3.5.a2, not 3.4.3. Version 3.4.3 is your current version, not the available version.

I assumed that if I was alerted on my 1.5 sites to upgrade then it would not be for 2.5 sites only. Can you change that for future upgrades? Has Akeeba Backup reached the end of the line for 1.5 support?

I am changing over my sites to 2.5 but it is a slow process!

Thanks, Tim

I'd like to change it, but there's a chicken and egg problem. When Akeeba Backup 3.4.3 was released, I was supporting both Joomla! 1.5 and 2.5. As a result there was no need to filter updates by version and no such feature exists in the Live Update found in 3.4.3. So I have to stop publishing new releases of Akeeba Backup (not going to happen!), stop using Live Update (hell no!), issue a version 3.4.4 which has a newer version of Live Update (but which would not be available for installation through Live Update to prevent accidental downgrades for Joomla! 2.5 users) or just ask you to read the release announcements. I am opting for the latter solution. It's exactly what I had done back in 2009 when I dropped Joomla! 1.0 support and few people complained.

Regarding support of Joomla! 1.5, please read our release announcement where I explain how that works.

I would like to disable the update messages for my 1.5 sites then- I know that I am offered the choice after I update to change the settings but I can't seem to find them in the configuration or component parameters.

Oops- I just found the answer in your update email:

"2. To disable automatic notifications disable the 'Akeeba Backup Update Notification' plugin in the Plugin Manager. More details here: https://www.akeebabackup.com/update-email-information"
