Joomla! version: 1.5.26 Stable
PHP version: 5.2.17
MySQL version: 5.1.56-log
Host: Dreamhost (have ABP running on other joomla sites on this host)
Akeeba Backup version: 3.4.3

EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: Please attach a ZIP file containing your Akeeba Backup log file in order for us to help you with any backup or restoration issue. If the file is over 2Mb, please upload it on your server and post a link to it.

Description of my issue: Just installed component, can't config because of JQuery or JQuery UI not found message which disappears before I can copy the entire message. Went through all the rec'd troubleshooting. Can pull up JQ file at: http://www.betathetapi.org/media/com_akeeba/js/akeebajq.js, files and directories are all at the appropriate permission levels (755 & 644).

It's normal for the message to flash and then disappear. What really happens is that this message is always visible on the page. When jQuery and jQuery UI load, a piece of Javascript runs which makes those error messages invisible. If it takes a very long time to load the Javascript files from your site then the messages might be visible for up to 5 seconds. If they go away, the Javascript has loaded. Therefore you don't have any problem. Just wait for the messages to go away and then click on the Configuration or Configuration Wizard buttons.

Actually the problem resolution was that the joomla user I was logged in with did not have Super Admin privileges.

So, the jQuery stuff was irrelevant to the solution of the problem. When you were logging in with the non-Super Admin user, did you get a 403 error page when trying to access the Configuration page of the component?

No, the only error displayed (briefly) was the confusing JQuery not loaded error which led to a lot of unnecessary troubleshooting of permissions and JQuery. Ideally, a check of the logged in user's ACL should be performed when the component is accessed (and an corresponding error was displayed, if not at the proper level).

There is a good reason that warning works the way I said it works. I will spare you with the three pages technical analysis, unless you are extremely curious to hear about all the ways PHP may report a file as unreadable when it's not, or all the crazy Javascript conflicts caused by third party developer plugins which are not supposed to run in the back-end, yet they do and screw up all Javascript on the page. Oh, believe me, the list of crazy things I am trying to prevent with the current implementation of the warnings is a very, very, very long one. Side note: the warning message and ACLs have nothing to do with each other. I suppose you meant permissions, not ACLs.
