Mandatory information about my setup:

Have I read the related troubleshooter articles above before posting (Amazon S3 pages)? Yes
Have I searched the tickets before posting? Yes
Have I read the documentation before posting (Amazon S3)? Yes
Joomla! version: (1.7.5)
PHP version: (5.3.10)
MySQL version: (5.5.20)
Host: (ICDSoft)
Akeeba Backup version: (3.4.3)

EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: Please attach a ZIP file containing your Akeeba Backup log file in order for us to help you with any backup or restoration issue. If the file is over 2Mb, please upload it on your server and post a link to it.

Description of my issue:
Backup to S3 works fine as long as it is initiated from either the Joomla backend or by manually running the CRON script. But when the CRON script is run automatically every morning, processing quits at the point of uploading the archive to Amazon.

Two virtually identical sites are on this server as subdomains, both running the same versions of all software, the same backup configuration and the same CRON script. One runs flawlessly while this one fails.

I've tried changing the time when the CRON runs because that is different for each of the CRON jobs. But that makes no difference.

I use Akeeba Backup Professional for 30+ sites, all backing up to Amazon S3. This connection error occurs randomly on other sites and I simply do a manual backup for that day. But for this subdomain on this server, the connection error occurs almost every day.

I haven't tried changing the bucket name. That possibility occurred to me because I have run into software bugs associated with certain combinations of letters. Possible here?

Thanks for your help! Akeeba Backup has made the setup and administration of Joomla sites routine instead of tortured and I greatly appreciate your work.

Akeeba Backup 3.4.3 is not supposed to work with Joomla! 1.7. In fact, the only version which should work on Joomla! 1.7 is Akeeba Backup 3.3.13. Your current version will report the CLI backup as Failed even though it completes successfully. Short of downgrading to Akeeba Backup 3.3.13 there is no other workaround.

Please note that we have discontinued support for both Akeeba Backup 3.3.x and Joomla! 1.7. Moreover, Joomla! 1.6.x and 1.7.x contain very important security vulnerabilities. Please upgrade your site to Joomla! 2.5.4 a.s.a.p. Failure to do so will get your site hacked. It's not a matter of if you'll get hacked, it's just a matter of when.

Thanks for the response! I had seen the notes about version incompatibility with J1.7, but was derailed by the fact that one of the sites worked fine. Upgrade to J2.5.4 will happen soon.
