Mandatory information about my setup:

Have I read the related troubleshooter articles above before posting (which pages?)? Yes
Have I searched the tickets before posting? Yes
Have I read the documentation before posting (which pages?)? Yes
Joomla! version: 2.5.4
PHP version: 5.2.17
MySQL version: 5.0.95-community-log
Host: 5quidhosting
Akeeba Backup version: 3.4.3

Description of my issue:
I cant run 'Live Update on my site (www.stonesailingclub.org.uk)
I get the following error:
---------------------------
Live Update is not supported on this server
Your server indicates that Live Update is not supported. Please contact your host and ask them to enable the cURL PHP extension or activate the URL fopen() wrappers. If these are already enabled, please ask them to configure their firewall so that it allows access to the following URL:
http://www.akeebabackup.com/updates/abprosvn.ini
----------------------------

I have asked my hosting company to check this for me and gave them access to the site to do tests.

This is what they have replied with:

-----------------------------
I have reproduced the error message in question. However, both of the pieces of functionality mentioned in the error message are already enabled. As such, I'm not sure why the software in question is producing this error message.

Have you been in touch with the developers or support team for the software? If we could find out what check it is actually performing and why it's returning the wrong result, we might be able to make some progress.
------------------------------

Hope this information will help

Please click on the Not Support button and then click on the "Refresh update information" button below the error message. If that doesn't work, make sure you've entered your Download ID by clicking on the "Component Parameters" button in Akeeba Backup's Control Panel page and click on Save & Close. Then you can rely on Joomla!'s own extensions update feature to upgrade to 3.5.0 when it's released.

Thanks for the quick reply.

1. Refresh update information button made no difference.
2. I have entered my 32 digit code which I entered in the component parameters section

3. Just for clarification, will this procedure only work for Akeeba release 3.5.0 onwards?

4 For the current latest version I cant install manually, it fails with an error code, to which I thought of using the live update

Again, thanks for the support

In very rare cases the update information does get stuck. In those cases, the only thing you can do is uninstall and reinstall the component. Please note that uninstalling the component will a. remove all your settings and b. remove all your backups if you are using the default backup output directory (administrator/components/com_akeeba/backup). In order to avoid any mishaps please do the following:
- Download all backup files from the default backup output directory (administrator/components/com_akeeba/backup) to your local PC
- Take a copy of Akeeba Backup's tables (they are all the tables with _ak_ in their name) using phpMyAdmin
- Uninstall Akeeba Backup
- Install Akeeba Backup again
- Restore the tables with phpMyAdmin
- Re-upload all the backup files you had downloaded to the default backup output directory (optional step)
- Re-enter your Download ID (it's removed on uninstallation).

Alternatively, you can skip all of that. Just rely on Joomla!'s own integrated extensions updater. When version 3.5.0 will come out you will be able to use it to upgrade your copy of Akeeba Backup.
