Hello Mark,
First of all, don't shout. All caps = shouting = not very polite. You don't want me to reply in the same tone.
It would help if you told me where the heck did you see the error message. Let's see if I am a good psychic and can read your mind... Um... You got that error message when trying to use Browse in the Configuration page to browse to the FTP output directory.
The error message contains all the information you need. It says "403: Access Forbidden". Obviously, this is not something coming from Akeeba Backup. Why would it forbid you from setting up FTP? That would be nonsense. Further to that, the error message tells you what is wrong: "LFI/directory traversal in REQUEST_URI". This is something a security component would throw. Obviously, one written by idiots, because security checks of that kind don't belong to the Joomla! back-end, but I digress.
How can you possibly know what that means? There is a fantastic site called Google. It actually gives answer to everything.
Let me Google that for you. First link is a thread from
the forum of Yireo (makers of MageBridge), with a client who had the same problem.
There is a solution, too.
The problem is RS!Firewall. Not related to Akeeba Backup. It's just that the guys from RS!Firewall are stupidly performing security checks on the Joomla! back-end where such checks should NOT run!
Maybe you are barking to the wrong tree, my friend?
