Mandatory information about my setup:

Have I read the related troubleshooter articles above before posting (which pages?)? Yes
Have I searched the tickets before posting? Yes
Have I read the documentation before posting (which pages?)? Yes
Joomla! version: 2.5.3
PHP version: 5.3.10
MySQL version: 5.1.61-log
Host: (optional, but it helps us help you)
Akeeba Backup version: (unknown)

EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: Please attach a ZIP file containing your Akeeba Backup log file in order for us to help you with any backup or restoration issue. If the file is over 2Mb, please upload it on your server and post a link to it.

Description of my issue: I used your Site Transfer Wizard to go from my old host to this new host, in case that's relevant. Every time I attempt to backup, it stops at 78%. The server response continues to report back but I've left it at that screen for over at hour and it stays there. I've altered the part size down to 5MB, I've tried to transfer to S3 and my box.net account, with the same result. It stays at 78%

What's odd is that it appears that it's creating a backup in public_html/administrator/components/com_akeeba/backups. They appear to be a proper size, but they don't show up under Administer Backup files, they never get transferred to S3 or Box.net and the backup page stays at 78%.

A log file without debug information doesn't tell me enough to be able to help you :( Please go to Akeeba Backup, select the backup profile you want to take the backup with, go to Configuration and set the Log Level to "All Information and Debug". Retry taking a backup. It will fail. Then download, ZIP and attach the new log file.

I apologize for the empty log file. I'm working on another issue with this server, primarily that upload_max_filesize in the php.ini file is set to the default of "2M". I believe that this is what may be causing my issue with akeeba, or one of the other low settings. This is at least preventing from uploading and installing any extensions larger than 2M.

Feel free to close this particular cry for help and if I continue to see the behaviour after they've changed my php.ini file, then I'll open another ticket and attach a bonafide log file.

Thanks again,
Greg

That sounds like a possible cause. You can always perform a manual installation of Akeeba Backup, as discussed in our troubleshooting guide. The manual installation circumvents such limitations.

Ok, after applying a custom php.ini file, I no longer have the upload limitations and akeeba still gets stuck at 78%. I've adjusted all types of things and following on your other thread (after mine), there are no akeeba php files in the backup folder. Attached is a better log file.

Incidentally, it never really "fails" it just stays at the last step at 78% indefinately...like this screenshot: http://cl.ly/3Z0c2v41293A0I0I1B3H

Your problem in this case (as I can see from the log) is that when you updated Akeeba Backup, its database tables were not updated. First try downloading Akeeba Backup's installation ZIP file and install it on your site, without uninstalling the existing installation of Akeeba Backup. The retry backing up.

If that doesn't work, you will have to uninstall Akeeba Backup. Warning: in this case, you will lose your settings and maybe your backups (if you are using the default backup output directory you will lose them). Make sure you download old backups before doing that. Then, install Akeeba Backup 3.4.3 and it should work now.

An installation of the 3.4.3 zip file, got stuck at 81% and stayed there. I uninstalled the version that I had, reinstalled 3.4.3 fresh and it's working fine now.

Thanks for your help!
