Joomla! version: 2.5.3
PHP version: 5.3.10
MySQL version: 5.5.20
Host: WAMP run on local pc
Akeeba Backup version: Akeeba Backup Professional 3.4.3 (2012-03-21)

EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: Please attach a ZIP file containing your Akeeba Backup log file in order for us to help you with any backup or restoration issue. If the file is over 2Mb, please upload it on your server and post a link to it.

Description of my issue:

I am using Kickstart to restore Akeeba backup files on my local WAMP server PC. At the "Server Setup Check", the "Output Buffering" is set in red to "yes" when the recommended setting is "No".

What is the later consequence if I click continue and leave the setting as is. Should I worry? If the consequences are bad, how can I change this setting to the recommended setting.

Most usually Joomla! works even when Output Buffering is enabled. You can always edit your php.ini file (click on WAMP's icon, click on PHP, then click on php.ini), find the line reading
output_buffering = On
and modify it to
output_buffering = Off
. Then save the file, close the window, click on WAMP's icon and click on Restart all services. Go back to your browser and refresh the page. This option should now be at its recommended setting.

Hi Nicholas

Just doing my homework to understand Output Buffering - which I understand it to mean:

- with output buffering off, a script is sent to the browser as one piece at the end of your script.
- with output buffering on - it's not being sent to the browser in pieces as PHP processes the HTML.

Therefore turning it on means it will take less time to download and render an HTML page or script. I should therefore leave it on. Is this correct?

Actually, Joomla! always uses output buffering, except when it only needs to issue a redirection. Therefore you should turn it off so as not to have any conflicts with Joomla!.
