Description of my issue:

I import downloaded achives from the live site to continue developing local.
But when I restore it does overwrite my files but does not delete the existing ones. Have to do that manualy. Is there a way to have kickstart delete all existing dirs/files before restoring?

Hello Gosling,

No, Kickstart is specifically designed not to delete existing files. It will only overwrite existing files if they also exist in the backup archive, but will not remove the files which are not present in the archive. The only way to do that is to remove the files manually.

In case you're wondering why that happens, take a look at our Advanced Site Transfers tutorial. Then it will become very evident why Kickstart is designed like that ;)
