Is to possible to update Akeeba Backup without resetting the configuration ?

Of course it is. In fact, you should NEVER uninstall Akeeba Backup before updating. Ever since Joomla! 1.5.7 we have been supporting the method-"upgrade" mode in our installation packages, which means that updating Akeeba Backup is as simple as installing the new version on top of the old one. Have you read our documentation page on updating Akeeba Backup?
