Joomla! version: Joomla! 1.5.22 Stable
PHP version: 5.2.17
MySQL version: 5.0.92
Host: (optional, but it helps us help you)
Akeeba Backup version: core - upgrading to pro V 3.3.4

EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: Please attach a ZIP file containing your Akeeba Backup log file in order for us to help you with any backup or restoration issue. If the file is over 2Mb, please upload it on your server and post a link to it.

Description of my issue: Hi Nicholas, I have never run into this issue before, but when upgrading a site from Akeeba Core, to Akeeba Pro, the ugrade failed. I ran the upgrade twice as recommended in the documentation but no go. I then tried to access Akeeba backup from the back end and received a 404 Component Not Found error. I have attached a text doc of the error i received.

Thank you in advance for any assistance you can provide :-)

This error means that the component is not installed. Do you get any error messages during the installation?

Thank you for your quick reply Nicholas :-)

No, i didn't get any errors during the intallation. Akeeba core was already installed though

That doesn't sound right. If there is no error during installation, the component is installed by Joomla!, therefore it can't throw a 404 error. Is there an administrator/components/com_akeeba directory on your site? Does it contain files, or just the "backup" directory?

Yes, there is a com_akeeba directory in components. It's empty, which is a puzzle because the Akeeba backup core was installed. The error happened when i tried to update to pro. Did you see the file i had attached to the original ticket Nicholas, or should i paste it here?

I had missed it. I was replying to the tickets from my iPad and couldn't open the attachment. Seeing that, you do get a rather huge error message :) Your problem is that the installation takes too long and in the meantime your MySQL server shuts down the database connection. The end result is that Joomla! can't write to the database and the installation fails. You can simply use the manual installation method explained step by step in Akeeba Backup User's Guide.
