Joomla! version: 2.5.2
PHP version: 5.2.6
MySQL version: 5.0.95-community
Host: PowerVPS
Akeeba Backup version: 3.3.13 - Pro

EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: Please attach a ZIP file containing your Akeeba Backup log file in order for us to help you with any backup or restoration issue. If the file is over 2Mb, please upload it on your server and post a link to it.

Description of my issue:

I just installed on a fresh version of Joomla! 2.5.2 and used the last download package I had on hand of the professional edition, which is not the latest available. I suspect if I installed from a full package file instead of doing the update it would work fine because the install of the older package went well.

When I trigger the update, from the component itself and not from the Joomla updater, I receive the following error:

JFolder: :files: Path is not a folder. Path: /home/sfranks/public_html/newtcmi/tmp/com_akeeba_update
JInstaller: :Install: Cannot find Joomla XML setup file

I have looked at the troubleshooting steps and verified that the tmp path is correct and writable.

Thanks for your assistance,

JP

I did an upgrade by installing the latest version from the main Joomla! installer and that worked but that does not fix the problem long term since I do not want my customer to have to update that way.

This doe snot feel like an Akeeba product issue but I have checked permissions and paths and everything checks out so I am at a total loss and looking for any suggestions you might have.

I have created a new folder with the correct ownership and permissions and change the tmp path and the same problem still occurs.

If you look at the contents for the folder you see that some items get written to the folder structure during the update process so it does not seem like a permission issue. Kind of seems like a Joomla! bug but I don't find anything in the Joomla! folders.

Any thoughts you have would be greatly appreciated...

Please note that only Akeeba Backup 3.3.13 and later is supported on Joomla1 2.5. Earlier versions might install, or they may fail. I can tell you for sure that they will certainly not work on Joomla! 2.5 because it has a lot of significant API changes compared to its predecessors. I think that explains why using an old release failed.
